The wife, my daughter and I are travelling from Farnborough to Worthing on Sunday 24th Oct and then returning on Monday 25th Oct but need to stop at Brighton on the way back.

Intention is to travel from Farnborough to Southampton and then along the coast on the Sunday; then return via Brighton (break of journey) and East Croydon, Clapham on the return.  I have a network card and friends and family railcard.  The cheapest I can find is ^47 for three Off Peak returns.  Can anyone come up with a cheaper way?  I can leave Worthing for Brighton after 10am on Monday morning and look to return from Brighton at around 18h00.

Thanks!

What fare exactly is the ^47 one?  I can't seem to find anything for that sort of price.

The cheapest SVR is ^31, so even with railcards (etc.) I can't get to ^47 Huh

Sorry, my brain seems to have switched off today.  I wasn't working out the discounts correctly!

   2 Adults   @^    20.45  =  ^    40.90
   1 Child    @^     5.90  =  ^     5.90
                              __________
                              ^    46.80

I'm unable to find anything obviously cheaper.  SN do a "Super Group 5" advance fare for ^15 each way between SOU-BTN and BTN-CLJ, but once you've added on the fares either side, it isn't cheaper.

Day save would be ^12 per adult per day (=^48) + 2 days at ^1 = ^50 without the additional fares of FNB - SOU or CLJ - FNB !

Three adults would still be ^48, plus the cost of a return between FNB-SOU and CLJ-FNB.

There is a Group DaySave, priced at the same as two adults, allowing 3 or 4 people to travel.  Price increased (very quietly) to ^12 at least 6 months ago.

No, because they would still need a single between Farnborough and Southampton (which is ^16.10 just for a one adult single), plus Clapham Junction to Farnborough (^13.80 for one adult).
