If I buy a single FNB > ESL can I travel, from FNB, changing at WIN to WEY as the first leg of my tour?

I would think a lot depends upon which Rover you hold...  Wink

Assuming the service is run by SWT (South West Trains), that's fine.  The Freedom of Severn and Solent is valid from Eastleigh westwards, and as it's a rover ticket your train doesn't need to stop at the station you change from the single ticket to the rover.

There's a leaflet with a map available from FGW (First Great Western) website here and I have seen it some ticket offices. I don't know how often the FOSS (Freedom of Severn & Solent rover ticket) is seen down there so it may be worth having a copy on you. That said, I've never had a problem other then having to tell a RPI (Revenue Protection Inspector, or Retail Price Index, depending on context) on the gate at Bournemouth how to issue them!

Cheers,
Mike

I've had no problems with a FOSS (Freedom of Severn & Solent rover ticket) down at Eastleigh, Southampton or Pompey.  Most just glanced the ticket, other checked more thoroughly but had no problems.

I think I must have been tired when I typed my original thread!!

The whole reason for asking was, in a nutshell, if I have a FOSS (Freedom of Severn & Solent rover ticket) with a single FNB > ESL but the train doesn't stop at ESL am I still covered?  It would seem YES I am lol!!!

Yes.  NRCoC (National Rail Conditions of Carriage) allow this under section 19 as the FOSS (Freedom of Severn & Solent rover ticket) is a "leisure travel pass", as defined by section 19.

Hello guys!  It's been a few months... sorry!!

It has (I assumed you'd taken a Sabbatical) but nevertheless, a very warm welcome back!  Wink Cheesy Grin

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
