A rumour that has been around for a while now , but appears to be growing in credibility , is that Hull Trains will be taking on at least one of the Class 180 Adelantes.

RAIL and Modern Railways are also reporting the above.

It says this on Wikipedia but it also says something weird about them receiving extensive works to their interior and a major modification programme to make them more reliable before they re-enter the 2009 timetable. I've never heard anything about this- has anyone else?

Quote from Insider (link below) :
http://indefenceoffirstgreatwestern.blogspot.com/2007/11/answering-some-questions.html

"You will see at least one Adelante appearing for Hull Trains in the near future, as a temporary substitute for the 222 that they dropped from a crane some time ago, but that's about it."

The latest rumour is that the 222 that was damaged during maintainance cannot be repaired. So the plan now is for Hull Trains to have five 180s to run their diagrams giving over their 222 fleet over to EMT» (East Midlands Trains - about) who also run 222s. The remaining carriages from the damaged set will be used to lengthen current sets running with EMT.

That would also work well with ATW (Arriva Trains Wales (former Train Operating Company)) taking on 9 of them, so this sounds fairly decent so far...

And after everything is cascaded down then some more 142's will be freed up from the valleys!! Wink

otherwise they'd have sorted a contract with angel to get them back as soon as modifications are finished to the adelantes
