St Ives Branch closed late afternoon

Service Perranwell <> Truro cancelled.  Services running to/from Falmouth Docks and Perranwell only.

Any ideas what was hit, noticed what seemed to be the associated thunder, at least with the Falmouth line at around 3pm.

Not sure if this from the NR» (Network Rail - home page) log would be connected with it?  Looks like lightening did strike twice (at least) in Cornwall today!

Advised by the Par Signaller DH axle counter sowc after a lightening strike, Up Main Probus area (Par West) 2C56 1440 Penzance-Bristol TM(resolve) first affected to be talked past PR112 signal, Techs en-route to reset the Axle Counters.

i am led to believe that the service could not be signalled off the branch onto the mainline, hence terminating at perranwell. my source could not tell me whether the problem was the points or the signalling though. had the unit been in truro at the time then all services would of been cancelled,

This morning just a 150 was running an hourly service between Truro and Falmouth Docks, with trains delayed at the signal before Penwithers Junction. The other train (a 153) was sat in a siding at Truro yard.
