DO YOU KNOW THIS MAN? BTP RELEASE CCTV IMAGES AND APPEAL FOR WITNESSES AFTER TRAIN GUARD ASSAULTED - CHIPPENHAM
British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for the public^s help to trace a man who sexually assaulted a female train guard on board a service in Wiltshire.
Officers have today released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident which happened shortly before 8pm on St George^s Day - Saturday 23 April 2011.
PC Neil Barnes, investigating officer, said: ^The guard on board the 1657hrs Plymouth to London Paddington service was making her way through the train when a man in the vestibule area between carriages C and D reached out and grabbed her bottom and between her legs.
^The man^s behaviour was completely unacceptable and left the member of train staff shocked and distressed.
^Members of staff have the right to go about their duties without being subjected to assaults or abuse of any kind.
^After viewing CCTV, officers have identified a man we believe can help with our enquiries and I would urge anyone who knows who he is to come forward and contact BTP straight away.^
The man BTP would like to speak to in connection with this incident is described as white, in his mid to late-thirties, about 5ft 4in, of thin build with short hair and wearing a mediaeval-style tunic with a St George^s-style cross on it.
Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image, or who knows his current whereabouts, is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident reference B6/WWA of 26/05/2011, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
