I was in the Oxfam shop on Mutley Plain in Plymouth today and they had a few railway books in stock.  All pretty modern and nothing very special (from my point of view).  I picked up a "Then and Now" book on the Conwy Valley Line (Blaenau Ffestiniog), new at ^17.95, Oxfam at ^12.99.   I left it there.

Looking over at the Devon interest books, I saw an old book with the letters G.W.R. on the spine.  Glorious Devon, second edition from 1929.  Not brilliant condition, but not bad either.

I think it was worth ^2.99.

Excellent choice - and a bargain, Richard!  Smiley

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

A warm welcome to the Coffee Shop, The Sleeper.  Smiley

Any chance of a slightly smaller avatar? It's a nice picture of a Pacer in the snow but just a little large to be used as an avatar. Thanks awfully.  Grin
