Hi,
I've been playing around a little with different singles and returns, but not sure if anyone knows any cheaper way! Any advice would be welcome:

I need to get from Worcester to Fratton this Sunday (20/03) sometime in the afternoon; I then need to get the train to Basingstoke which leaves at 6.30(ish) on Monday (21/03) morning, and then need to get back from Basingstoke to Worcester, probably leaving some time after 1600, also on the Monday.

Timings on the final journey are not critical at all.

I have a 16-25 railcard, if this helps. Would some sort of rover work out better?

Cheers in advance!

Worcester Foregate Street to Fratton (Route: Evesham/Stroud) Super Off Peak Return with Railcard ^37.60

Returning via Oxford (ie Fratton-Basingstoke-Reading-Oxford-Worcester) is permitted on any train, as is a break of journey, so you can stop off in Basingstoke Monday morning.

Yet to find splits or Advances that can beat that.

On the outward you can chose to travel via either the Cotswold Line or Golden Valley (Gloucester - Swindon) at any time as it's a Sunday.

On the return you can leave Fratton at any time, break your journey at Basingstoke then continue via either route to Worcester. However you cannot return via Swindon on trains departing Reading between 1530 and 1900. Via Oxford there are no time restrictions.

Edited after finding a cheaper fare!

Forgot to mention, you can also travel on your outward journey via Bristol and Salisbury if you wish. You can purchase the Route: Salisbury Off Peak Return at ^36.30 and do a 'change of route' excess on the return portion up to the Route: Evesham/Stoud Super Off Peak Return.

The excess is half the difference between the two fares: (^37.60-^36.30) /2 =  ^0.65. This would give a total fare of ^36.95.

Maybe a bit late with this additional advice, but tis only 65p saving!!!
