Hi all - My annual season between Maidenhead and Paddington is due for renewal in two weeks (March 14th). Last year, FGW▸ mailed me details of an offer of some complimentary weekend tickets if I renewed.
I haven't received any details of a similar offer this year. Was it a one time deal only, or is this a regular offer?
cheers Chippy

Hopefully someone will be a long with an answer shortly. Unfortunately I know not, and haven't found any info online. In the meantime ChippyAft, may I extend a warm welcome to the Coffee Shop Forum.

I would guess that it was a one-off last year, if it's not being advertised online and FGW▸ haven't contacted season-ticket holders. Were the freebies linked to poor performance during the validity of the previous season ticket?

I think it's just an occasional promo that comes around now and again like club 55. As long as your details are on the database when they mail out details, you get to know about it

Thanks for the replies - I guess not this year then.
I don't think it was a performance related offer - if memory serves, I didn't get a discount on last year's renewal...

I got something in the post a few weeks back offering the 6 weekend return complimentary tickets on renewal of my annual season ticket, which I renewed today.

To my knowledge it's an ongoing thing, bare in mind that if you renewed your season at a non FGW▸ station then you wouldn't get a letter as FGW won't know you have renewed - which would also mean you don't get tickets, speak to customer services they the ones that were dealing with it iirc..

I'm advisedby FGW▸ that these are still offered on renewal at an FGW station for travel on FGW routes.

To clarify that. You get them if you renew your ticket at an FGW station for an FGW route. BUT It is not the station that gives them to you. You will get them in the post.

Going back to the original poster's question / journey - Maidenhead to Paddington - would I be right in adding that he'll get a nice letter in the post if he renews at the Maidenhead end, but not if he renews at Paddington, as that station is run by Network Rail?

Yeah sorry I'll clarify my own point, by FGW▸ Station I mean a station in which FGW staffs the ticket office, so yeah Paddington can be classed as an FGW station in that respect.
