A wee bit chaotic this morning at Trowbridge. (And elsewhere locally no doubt)

Station staff did well keeping people informed of the delays but AFAIK ('as far as I know') there wasn't a reason given. A quick check
on 'current running' revealed the following, don't recall seeing that one before.

Quote
06:45 Frome to Cardiff Central due 08:46

This train will be started from Westbury. It will no longer call at: Frome. This is due to a train late from the depot. Last Updated: 11/02/2011 05:57

Any number of underlying reasons I suppose. DUFF STOCK anyone.  Wink Cheesy Cheesy

I've seen that one a few times ... although more usually on HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) services than 15x operated services.  But overall I think I'm seeing noticeably fewer short workings flagged up - it's certainly a lot better than it was in the immediate approach to Christmas and at the start of the new year; a good sign.

Express frustration - yes, absolutely, but in the long term I suspect that shouting things like DUFF STOCK all over the place will be less than helpful in our relations with FGW (First Great Western), even though it may be a good approach with other companies.  And somehow I think you agree with me, Tramway, judging by your  Grin Grin Grin

Graham, if I posted about every frustration I have with FGW (First Great Western) I think I would be banned from the board and lose my job for not doing what I^m supposed to, I leave that to survey time. I hope the topic came across as being positive.

Thinking about it ^uncommon^ was probably a better way of describing it, I just thought that the statement was a neat description that ^for whatever reason we couldn^t get your train to it^s start point^. There could be a plethora of causes for why it was actually late off. (Perhaps BNM could sneak in ^plethora^ next time he speaks to a PCO)

Trowbridge office guys are generally pretty good when things go awry, just wish there was better PA (Public Address (broadcast loudspeaker announcements) or Passenger Assist (railway staff providing physical assistance to passengers with mobility issues), depending on context) coverage, coverage from the weather^.

SPM (St Philip's Marsh (Bristol depot)) is quite a restricted site and with the amount of stock entering and exiting the site you only need one problem and things get late very quickly
