From the BTP (British Transport Police) press release:

BRITISH TRANSPORT POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION FOLLOWING THEFT OF LUGGAGE FROM A TRAIN BETWEEN BRISTOL AND NEWPORT

BTP officers are appealing for the public^s help to identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of a passenger^s property from a train between Bristol Temple Meads and Newport railway stations.

Officers have today released a CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele Vision) image of a man they believe will have information which can assist their enquiries into the incident which took place on Thursday 30 December 2010.

Detective Inspector Mark Cleland, investigating officer, said: ^The victim boarded the 11.54am Bristol Temple Meads to Cardiff Central service and placed his suitcase in the luggage rack towards the front of the train. However, when he went to get his case, he discovered it was missing from the luggage racks.

^Officers have viewed CCTV footage and would now like to trace and speak to the man in this photograph about the incident. We believe he boarded the train and Bristol Temple Meads and alighted at Newport at about 12.30pm. Anyone who recognises him, or who knows his whereabouts, is asked to contact BTP straight away.^

Anyone with information should call British Transport on Freefone 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident reference B3/WWA of 20/01/2011, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
