Hi,
Does anyone know why a discount isn't applied to a Super-Off Peak Day Return ticket between Worcester and Great Malvern?
It appears to cost ^3.50 with or without railcard whereas the Anytime Day Return ticket can have the discount applied.

On the 16-25 railcard webpage it states:

Save on these ticket types:

    * Standard Anytime and Anytime Day Singles and Returns
    * Standard Off-Peak and Off-Peak Day Singles and Returns
    * Standard Super Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak Day Singles and Returns

There should be a discount applied so long as it is after 10am. Where is not offering you 34% discount?

What time of day are you travelling...? There's a minimum fare applied on weekdays before 1000 (excl bank holidays plus July and August) of GBP12.00, so a 3.50 ticket wouldn't be discounted before that time.

If it's not that then I assume there's some kind of bug in the system that may be worth reporting, as the ticket certainly should be discounted.

I dont think that is a super off peak return.  It sounds like the Evening out ticket.  A special ticket which allow travel between (IIRC^▸ (if I recall/remember/read correctly)) evesham and hereford for a flat fare of ^3.50 but it does not give discount.  I guess it is the journey planners way of showing the ticket

The ticket is available every day of the week and is priced for single or return journeys.

Valid between:
Moreton-in-Marsh, Evesham, Hereford, Great Malvern, Worcester, Droitwich Spa, Stourbridge Junction and Bromsgrove.

There are two fares available

C1R - 1 Adult

C2R - 2 Adults and up to 3 children
 
Outward Travel
 Return Travel
 
Valid after 1800 hours only with the following exceptions:

Moreton-in-Marsh: any train at or later than 1715

Honeybourne: any train at or later than 1725

Evesham: any train at or later than 1735

Pershore: any train at or later than 1745

I'll still probably send an email though, as the ticket is sold as a 'Super Off Peak Day Return' both on-line and on ticket machines.
As an ordinary passenger, I would expect to receive the discount, I'm not concerned with any problems the TOC^▸ (Train Operating Company) has 'showing' the ticket on their systems!

Your email will need to be sent to London Midland and not FGW^▸ (First Great Western) as it is LM^▸ (London Midland - recent franchise) that set the fares between Worcester and Great Malvern.

Probably because Avantix^▸ (Ticket Issuing System used on board trains) has it listed under a Super Off Peak day return which normally always has RC discount, this just seems to be an exception with the wrong name!

Not to mention the fact that it applies discount to everything incl. FC^‡(resolve) tickets.

Just to follow this up, London Midland finally replied to me last week (blaming the delay on the severe weather) and stated that I shouldn't have any problems, as a discount is applied when they tried it on the website...

I had need for this ticket again last Friday, and now the discount is applied.

Not sure how or why this has come about, but it gives me a little extra for the pub everyweek!

I note that all flows (including those priced by FGW^▸ (First Great Western)) that have the evening return ticket (C1R) in this area have been amended on booking engines to allow railcard discounts.

Now, is there any reason why these ridiculously cheap tickets can't be used as singles? Could be very handy for splitting fares on journeys on the Cotswold Line where a return is needed the following (or up to a month) evening.

Funnily enough I've just checked train times for this weekend - I will be going to Hereford from Worcester on the Saturday evening and returning on Sunday evening.
On the FGW^▸ (First Great Western) site the only fares that appear are ^5.35 for a single or ^8.85 for the return....
If I check for a day return on Saturday, and another one on Sunday, it brings up the ^2.30 option, saving ^4.25.

I know which tickets I'll be buying
