William Huskisson MP▸ was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830. Many more have died in the same way since then. Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

I thought this was going to be another one of Chris B's ' beefed' up stories that was going to be All Cock and No Bulls...and then began to wonder if he had 'lost his marbles' somewhere ....

Defining just what a train has hit also seems to be rather difficult sometimes ... From the Worcester News: Train delays in county after animal is struck
Trains were delayed for up to an hour this morning after an animal was struck on the line between Evesham and Moreton-in-Marsh.
The service from Worcester to Oxford carrying commuters at 6.53am was halted after it hit a mystery animal.
The impact was so severe it damaged part of the train, and stopped at Moreton-in-Marsh to allow passengers off.
It has meant delays of up to an hour.
A spokeman for First Great Western said: ^The animal was so badly damaged we^ve not been able to identify what it is.
^It hit part of the train which links to the engine so we had to end the service at Moreton.^

Would the DNA kits that some public transport bodies provide to their staff have been of use? May've helped identify the species.
