Was told it was a TCF (Track Circuit Failure).

Thank goodness for the abbreviations page on here, if it wasn't for that I would have thought you were talking about the BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) test card! ("Test Card F" - sometimes shortened to TCF (Track Circuit Failure)Cheesy

Absolutely nothing to do with this:

If you're sad, like me, then you can read about the fascinating (er, hmm) history of the BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) Test Card F here.

Otherwise, TCF (Track Circuit Failure) = Track Circuit Failure.  Wink Roll Eyes Grin

Oh don't worry, I'm already an anorak when it comes to stuff like TV (Thames Valley, or TeleVision, depending on context) and radio  Grin I even knew that Test Card F is now Test Card J (at least on analogue TV!)

If you're feeling nostalgic, you can watch Testcard W on most freeview TV (Thames Valley, or TeleVision, depending on context)'s by pressing a few buttons on your remote control.

Just read this thread about 5 minutes ago and followed the instructions.  After which a friend just came to my front door, which I answered.  They came in and commented that I must have a very fun and eventful life if I enjoy watching the BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) test card  Embarrassed
