Line incidents

Line problem between Castle Cary and Taunton.
Train services are being disrupted due to a broken down train between Castle Cary and Taunton. Engineers are working as fast as possible to restore services to normal. Delays of up to 120 minutes can be expected. Only west-bound train services are affected by this problem.

Train services are being disrupted due to signalling problems between London Paddington and Greenford. Engineers are working as fast as possible to restore services to normal. Short notice cancellations can be expected.
London Underground are accepting First Great Western tickets between London Paddington and Greenford in both directions. Note that the Heathrow Connect services have been suspended.

Train services are being disrupted due to signalling problems between London Paddington and Slough. Engineers are working as fast as possible to restore services to normal. Short notice alterations, cancellations and delays of up to 45 minutes can be expected.
Please note that Heathrow Connect services have had to be suspended as a result of the signalling problem.

Had to get a rare taxi home from Paddington tonight as there seemed to be signal problems disrupting everything out of Paddington including the Greenford line. Didn't want to chance boarding a crowded Ealing Broadway train and then faff around with getting a bus. Paddington was packed with stranded commuters, including one with a surfboard!

Looking at the reports on the FGW^▸ (First Great Western) website, it looks to have been a bit of a bad evening for FGW with signal problems in other areas as well, also saw a report of animals on the line in the Tiverton Parkway area earlier!

There was planned engineering work on the newquay line this week untill 1600 today so it must have overran!

Absolute hell tonight on the platforms.
dunno why we just didnt turn the HSTs^▸ (High Speed Train) into PAD^» (Paddington (London) - next trains)-RDG^‡(resolve) shuttles, and have the long distance ones turn around at RDG.

Lack of communication...
The work was always meant to carry on through the weekend but no-one told the planners.
The same almost happened for the Falmouth branch in November but they've noticed that one!!!

Actually it was the 1400 Penzance/Paddington that hit a cow at Cowley Bridge(no joke) today shortly after depature from Exeter.

17:03 Paddington - Penzance had a bit of a problem, and got into Penzance just 359 minutes late. So it arrived at 04:29 instead of 22:30!

Explanation offered by the senior conductor on the 17.50 to Worcester once we left Oxford 30 minutes late was a points failure and a separate signalling fault. I think Southall was mentioned for one or other of these.

Wasn't on my usual commute last night- was instead travelling out to Farnborough North via Reading. Got the (Swansea) 17:15 from Paddington, and came to a very sudden halt just outside Southall. The TM^‡(resolve) told us there was a points failure, we sat there for about 15 minutes, then went hell-for-leather out to Reading, arriving about 12 minutes late. Still managed to get the 18:04 out to Farnborough. However the boards at Reading were showing everything else as being "delayed", and announcements were saying that the next westbound train (Hereford) was still at a stand at Southall. A lucky escape I think.
