Buying a ticket online error...!

When I book a ticket on any TOC^▸ (Train Operating Company) website, If I want an Underground ticket to Zone 1 or an underground travelcard, whenever I put that in as the destination, it just says, no tickets available...!

What am I doing wrong?

(I use Southern's Mixing Desk to book tickets, I select the destination as a London All Zone Travel Card or Zone U1 depending on my requirements...!)

Now normally I get the train manager to sell me the travel card on the way to London, which they are happy to do, but it would be much eaiser if I could book it online with my ticket to London...!

A Travelcard is only available if returning the same day when booking online. With Zone U1* Londn, WebTIS (Southern, East Coast etc) often gives up both the London Terminals fare and the Underground inclusive fare. It's a case of checking the individual fare options carefully by rolling your mouse over the fare options and reading the pop up box.

Specifically, what fare were you trying to book?

Well, I've done it before using FGW^▸ (First Great Western)'s website and "thetrainline" style interface and had no difficulties. Just tried inputting details for a hypothetical Oxford - London journey, leaving now, returning later tonight.

Just type "London" as the destination, wait for the drop-down list to appear then select London Zone 1. It offers me a single fare to ZONE U1* LONDN for GBP 22.90 or a one-day travelcard for GBP 23.00 automatically without me having to do any futher messing about.

I've had similar problems to thetrout.. I've never been offered a travelcard when I ask for a return (for the same day) to London.. I always look to see if I can enter London all zones or something like that.. and I can never find it.. Then I give up

The ^54 fare I've highlighted (Bristol TM^‡(resolve) to London) is a Travelcard, whereas the cheaper one to the left isn't.

SWT^▸ (South West Trains)'s fares display is quite good for this - just select London Terminals and the various travelcard fares have an 'LU roundel' next to them...
