BS9 1AE

Bristol University Conference Centre

As there seems to be no nearby train station that is easy for me - if its possible to park there then thats what I'll do

Exam location .....

On site parking may be OK, suggest contacting the Uni. If not then you are in a residential area with few, if any, on street parking restrictions.

The conference centre is in Wills Hall (the posh one, or so they like to think) which has its own car park, not sure what restrictions apply.  As bignosemac says, there is plenty of on-street parking with no restrictions.

Wills Hall is just over a mile from Clifton Down station.  As it crosses the downs, the walk isn't really suitable for doing alone when it is dark.  Or you can take a lovely First bus directly to the hall Cheesy

Exam is 2:30pm to 4:30pm on October 18th so should still be light there and back

The walk might clear my head and then chill me out afterwards

Nice walk across Durdham Down, the first bit though is a long trek uphill from Clifton Down Station on Whiteladies Road.

My advice when travelling to Bristol Uni - don't use First buses as the drivers seemingly don't have a clue where it is!

I think half the problem is that the university is spread out across a wide area - so unless you specify main a building, they probably won't know where you want to go.  The conference centre isn't anywhere near the main university precinct, it is in Stoke Bishop which is where most of the halls of residences are located (about 45 mins walk from the main university).

BTW (by the way), the 18th October is the third week of term - around the time when all the clean clothes are dirty and mummy isn't around to do the washing.  So go prepared expecting to whiff the "odour of smelly fresher" all around the place Undecided

Well.... that's sort of understandable. The university is all over the city. Bus 8 and 9 are good for some parts of the campus, 41 for the halls in Stoke Bishop, UBHT free bus for sites connected with the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

1,8,9,40,40A,41,54,75 all good for the Wills Memorial Building.

Then there are the Ulink buses..... these drivers should know where the university sites are!

The Ulink busses are actually for UWE so are unlikely to know much about Bristol University. the free hospital bus is probably the best bet

Oh come on! That's like getting on a bus in Oxford and asking the driver where to get off for the university (which endless numbers of tourists do, the patience of most of the drivers is remarkable).

Whilst near the Wills Memorial building I happened to ask whether this was the University however recieved a grunt and subsequently went on a merry tour around some Bristol suburbs!
