Does anyone know what lovely sort of train it would have been that took me between Bristol Parkway and Temple Meads this morning (8.46).. It made the turbos that I usually get from Maidenhead seem very luxurious

Well, it was the wrong time to be one of the lovely loco hauled services we have here in the wesscundry. It would appear that it was the service that came up from Weymouth so may have been a Class 158.
Not sure whether you'd be singing the praises if it was a 150 or 153 (or combo thereof).

Lots of doors, or doors at the carriage ends only?

Did it have 2+3 seating?
Did it have tables
2+3 seating = the LM▸ 150
Tables = a 150
Neither of the above - a 143

Service originally came from Weymouth, I don't think the 143's do the Weymouth trips but I could be wrong.

I think it had more doors than just at the ends.. I think it was 2 + 2 seating with some pull down seats in the door areas amonst other places.. Hope that helps...

Yes, fair enough: a 150/2, then, rather than a 143. We'll save a journey on a 143 as a special treat for you!

You could always take a trip down* to Clifton Down Wednesday evening. Donkeys are almost always the order of the day! Once had a 3 car 158 on the Severn Beach Line, but I'm beginning to think that was a dream......
*Geographically up, but down in railway terms.
