William Huskisson MP▸ was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830. Many more have died in the same way since then. Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

What concerns me is that by visiting their website, or, heaven forfend, buying the Daily Fail, we are only encouraging them!

The only time I have ever bought a copy of the Daily Wail was for my m-i-l, when she was staying with us once.

Have to admit to reading it regularly during my teenage years (I'm better now!). Mother's newspaper of choice. Still is, but I now resist the urge to pick it up when visiting. I also resist when Mum says, "Have you seen this in the paper?" Arguing about immigration, house prices, the latest medical 'scare' etc whilst cooking sunday lunch is not my idea of fun.

In view of the generally light-hearted tone of the posts on this topic, I've moved it here, to 'the lighter side'. May I also offer a classic scene from 'Yes, Prime Minister', on the subject of 'Who reads the papers?': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGscoaUWW2M CfN

My mum reads the daily wail
I used to read the grauniad - I grew up and became a tax payer
I tend to the times and telegraph but will read the daily wail but giv myself the benefitnof the doubt that I don't believe it before checkingnother sources
