As it says on the tin - have an advance ticket for tomorrow - need to change the out portion.  Its from Nailsea to Reading

Nailsea does not have a ticket office

I guess my choice is:

1. Find nearest other station where I can park easily and excess to nailsea if its west of here

2.  See if mr TM (Train Manager, or possibly Ticket Machine, depending on context) will let me go as far as Bristol on the basis I'm trying to change it and could not and risk getting excessed that way

:-(

Any suggestions?

REturn portion staying unchanged so still cheaper than two walk ons

National Rail Enquiries says (regarding changes to Advance Purchase tickets):

Changing the time or date of travel

* Changes to time or date of travel must be arranged before departure of the first reserved train printed on the ticket, after which the ticket has no value and a new one must be purchased. You will need to present the ticket(s) and reservation(s) when you request a change.

* Changes to tickets cannot be made on-board the train. If you board a train without a ticket and reservation for that service, a new ticket must be purchased. Depending on the Train Company you are travelling with, you may be liable to a Penalty Fare if you board the train with an invalid ticket.

*The origin, destination and Train Company or route shown on the ticket(s) must remain the same.

*The difference between the price paid and cost of the next suitable fare for your journey is payable, plus a ^10 administration fee per person, per single ticket for each change to a journey. If you change to a train on which a cheaper fare is available, the difference will not be refunded.

/quote]

It does, and it is open from 0630 to 0930 (confirmed on FGW (First Great Western) website), so if your ticket was booked on the 0644 then in theory you have enough time to present it to Jacob and get it changed before departure time. Though if you want to leave on the earlier train then you are stuck as it departs before 0630.

Yatton is open until 1230 on weekdays.

I was booked on 0644 but wanted to get the 1257 today - solution was get the train at nailsea - explain to guard what I was doing, then explain to barrier at Bristol.

However barrier was open so latter not required.

10 change fee to change to STD anytime then upgrade on train - job done

:-)

And a bit of above and beyond customer service from Bristol Temple Meads ticket staff. They could've refused as (if I read it correctly) it was past the time of your originally booked Advance.

No - was the 0644 for tomorrow

Client moved a meeting from 11:30 to 08:30 and if anyone can tell me how to get from nailsea to wokingham and then to nine mile ride for 08:30 - feel free

Other than get up at silly oclock (which I don't do anymore) and pay for taxis so I came down off peak today and stayed in hotel

In crowthorne
