Just noticed that on the FGW (First Great Western) ticket booking website it now gives you the option of booking a seat with an internet connection available.

Does this mean FGW are adding wi-fi to trains (at last) or is it just a standard option on the National Rail booking system? Can't say I've noticed it before.

No WiFi - just a standard option.

Kind of misleading isn't it? It should carry a "subject to availability" disclaimer.

I'm not sure FGW (First Great Western) are ever going to get Wifi unless they replace the HST (High Speed Train) stock are they?

Possibly, but then again thetrainline booking system also gives you the option of selecting table/window/aisle/close-to-bog seats which in my experience it never seems to deliver on either...

A lengthy piece about FGW (First Great Western) in this month's Modern Railways includes

"Mobile phone coverage on the Western is generally good, allowing business travellers to keep in touch with their emails via 3G, and thus there are currently no plans to install wi-fi equipment on FGW."
