Idle question but what do the new G2HG etc codes mean on the coach ends? The TOPS▸ codes are still in place alongside them.

Be thankful we don't use the UIC codes, they pracitcally tell you who applied the transfers with all the numbers on.

The code you actually saw was GH2G. G = HST▸ H = Open saloon 2 = 2nd class G = Mk 3 These codes are not that new as they're probably 30 years old now! A full list of these codes and many others can be found at http://www.abrail.co.uk/coach_codes.htm |

Question is ........ where are these codes
I'm fairly observant hence the reason I absorbed so much but I've never sen these codes - may be if I had I would never have posted about the renamed G and H the other day

From memory they form part of the "data panels", which are the white decals on the coach ends, I think on the left-hand side of the car if you were looking at it "head on". |
