William Huskisson MP▸ was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830. Many more have died in the same way since then. Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Don' think there are any level crossings between Slough and West Drayton - in face you have to go to beyond Reading before you hit a LC▸ out of Paddington on the main lines.

Well, the mention of a level crossing did strike me as a bit odd: however, I posted it anyway, just to see if any of our more 'local' members could clarify the matter. Which you have: thanks! Chris. Edit Note: I've now merged the two topics which both covered this 'blip' on the FGW▸ website.

Solid State Interlocking. More details are available at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid_State_Interlocking ... and yes, I'll add it to our acronyms and abbreviations page!

Well there you go then.. I was wondering why my (and other peoples) journey was delayed today.. I'm none the wiser then but I will look out for that new level crossing tomorrow Also, new level crossing aside, information at Maidenhead today was non existent other than to announce trains pretty much as they were arriving but nothing in advance.. When I arrived at Maidenhead, the 11.36 to London was up as cancelled but no announcements were made to say why.. Also the the 11.31 to Bedwyn (I think) was up for ten minutes after it's due time as being on time..The total lack of information was quite amazing...

FA - I'm sure we've all noticed a typo or two recently in your posts. Any reason for this? New technology maybe?

All I had was an iphone! Apologies Sometimes it subs in crud Note: I am officially dyslexic. I auto spell check on the PC but the iphone sometimes has a life of its own. Its only apparent in written etc - ask me to spell it verbally and I can - ask me to write it - you may get gibber. The iphone sort of fixes it but not as good as the computer.

An iphone? Wot. No iPad yet?
(By the way, am I the only one to think that yesterday's F1 coverage was the best publicity the BBC» could give to Apple? There was Jake Humphrey using his iPad to show Mark Webber a video at the opening, and he continued to be glued to it until the start of the race. Apple must have been overjoyed.)
