William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

My initial reaction was that 3 is Temple Meads, but on second thoughts I'm less sure.

That was my exact-same initial reaction, James!  It's very similar architecture - mock-gothic-Victorian.  No idea where it actually is, though!  Roll Eyes

Again, another bit of slight devilry..... superficially it is very similar to Temple Meads and I suspected I may get Bristol TM (Train Manager, or possibly Ticket Machine, depending on context) as an answer......  Grin

Imagine how many staff and trains would be needed to run the FGW (First Great Western) frachise over all those old lines!

Is it Banbury?

Correct. And the 'strangest old woman that you ever saw' from the "I rode a cock horse to Banbury Cross" nursery rhyme may be alive and well. She appears in a 'Stations Made Easy' picture for Banbury Station on the National Rail Enquiries website:
