Take 5 ^ free bus journeys

Last updated: 06/04/2010

Cornwall Council and local bus operators will be helping local people to save money and cut their carbon footprint by swapping their private car travel for bus travel on the service 88/88B Truro ^ Falmouth service.

A recommendation from a Cornwall Council single issue panel which considered the issues of rural bus services and access to public transport requested that a campaign be developed that was specifically aimed at people who usually travel by private car and who did not already travel by bus at a reduced rate as a student or for free with a concessionary pass.

Households near to the route of the First Devon and Cornwall 88/88B service will be sent the Take 5 leaflet containing 5 free return bus tickets to be used on the 88/88B service between 12-25 April. Participants will be asked to complete a short travel diary, outlining how they would have made the journey if they had not used the bus, and return this in exchange for 5 more free return tickets.

I overheard a guard telling a driver that a certain clique based in Penryn already attempt to enjoy free rail travel on this branch.  A free bus will at least be a transport novelty if not a fiscal one.   Grin

You really must stop eavesdropping, Nemesis. Otherwise you may find that these guards and drivers become your nemeses!  Wink
