Sorry to disappoint, but I'm probably younger than you grahame! No great knowledge on my part - just information gleaned from Wikipedia. And a suspicion (now proved) that my amswering Bath Queen Square would provoke debate.

Hmm. If "all these pictures were taken this month", I would (yet again) have been standing right next to grahame when he took that one.

It is indeed. Spot on. That is indeed a bonus point (and a lot of people wondering how long we spend looking aroung such places!)

Hanging around and taking photos in station Gents toilets can get you into all sorts of trouble. (Unless you are compiling 'Stations Made Easy' stats for NRE‡)

Thanks, bignosemac! That's exactly why I wanted to 'distance' myself from that particular photo location - I don't work for NRE‡!

3 is, indeed, Westbury. And 7 is indeed Chippenham. My goodness - you do a lot of looking up. 5 isn't Highbridge and is discussed above Which leaves just 6. And there's no way without the earlier clues that you could guess that. "Near Chippenham, no though services from Chippenham" ... it's actually Avoncliff or (as some of the announcements seem to say Avon Cliff!)

Thanks for resolving 6, grahame! I was working on the basis of where you might have seen a low-flying RAF▸ Hercules - hence my increasingly desperate attempts to locate a railway station within 'final approach' of Lyneham!

Thanks for resolving 6, grahame! I was working on the basis of where you might have seen a low-flying RAF▸ Hercules - hence my increasingly desperate attempts to locate a railway station within 'final approach' of Lyneham! I thought "should I put this up - it's almost impossible" with number 6 ... and I was very impressed when you got as close as Chippenham. We have "Herc"s flying over here (West Wilts) frequently, it seems; I think they do a circuit which includes Lyneham and "touch and go" training dropping off loads on the runway without even putting their full weight down at Keevil. I'm not at Avoncliff for very long all that often - though it is one of the dog's favourite stations (gets greeted by a nice lady or gentleman at the door when she gets on, which doesn't happen at other places!)
