Posting this here as its affecting more than one service out of Paddington:

Train services have been disrupted due to a passenger being taken ill at London Paddington.Delays of up to 30 minutes may still occur.

Several platforms were unavailable during the incident which has resulted in ongoing delays on train services both into and out of London Paddington station.

The Greenford train I have just arrived home was late leaving Paddington and crawled its way to Acton Main Line, even HSTs▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) were crawling through - no information was available to our driver (1718 out of Paddington) between Paddington and Acton (one passenger suggested someone had jumped in front of a train at Ealing Broadway - obviously a seasoned FGW▸ (First Great Western) traveller!)

It turns out that the real reason is as posted above - but I can't say I saw anything relating to the problem at Paddington, don't know which platforms were "unavailable".

I was on a train an hour later (18.18).. there was no information but we also left late and crawled as far as about Ealing Broadway before speeding up...Not sure if it's related..

According to the live FGW▸ (First Great Western) site, various trains leaving Paddington were delayed or even cancelled due to 'a passenger being taken ill earlier'.

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

One person on Twitter reported a 'broken rail outside Paddington' about three hours ago as well - don't know how accurate that report is!

An earlier Oxford service was stoned and delayed at Slough whilst the broken window was knocked out. Ended up 25 late on arrival.

It's totally unrelated I am sure but when I arrived at Paddington there were two very big posh cars and four police motorbikes waiting for someone to arrive.. Princess Anne maybe?

Almost certainly!

But of course they could not actually tell one that could they.

I remember when Charlie visited worcester - all parking was prohibited at shrub hill FFS▸ (for goodness' sake (a more polite definition)).

Strange......

When he came to Warminster a while back - in the Royal Train, it was all fairly low key. They wouldn't let anyone up by the booking office, but when he left (heading Westbury way) I was stood on the platform just past the footbridge and nobody seemed to mind.
I suppose it all depends on the Plod in charge !

So the broken rail would explain trains crawling out of Paddington (assuming that is down.. I'm not sure of my downs and my ups but I do know I was on the main line  Grin)  an hour after the passenger taken ill incident? it would have been nice to have been told..
