I have a photo but can't for the life of me work out how to add it.

If you're happy to e-mail it to me, I'll do the necessary!  Wink
In the words of my mother, if I don't learn to do it myself then I'll never know!

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Let's face it.  Most people don't care, and probably don't even notice. If a train turns up at the appointed time and stops at the station then they will get on without a second thought.

Over the past few years we've had Central liveried units, Transpennine Express, Silverlink, NWT pacers, and currently ATW (Arriva Trains Wales (former Train Operating Company)) and SWT (South West Trains), not to mention 2 loco hauled sets. Jo Public doesn't seem to bat an eyelid, let alone get confused.

dont forget 158741 the jock rail set we had at start of first greater western franchise

I remember that set. Wasn't it bought down especially for the start of the franchise because it was in First's colours?

thats the one,it was down here a few weeks if memory serves me correctly,i also remember a time when it was spare at canton and ATW (Arriva Trains Wales (former Train Operating Company)) decided to use it on one of their services crewe/manchester or something??
FGW (First Great Western) were not impressed as they needed it ATW claimed they did not realise it was not one of their sets that went off depot F*** knows how they did not notice the 4ft pink F down the side of it??? anyway ATW got a bill for a few grand.

That would explain it, not hosted on a website and you're not missing much.
The set that came down was affectionetely nicknamed Morag while she was down there, name was markered in one of the cabs if I remember rightly.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but those pictures (I think the last 2 anyway) are taken near Newton Abbot aren't they? The last two must be near where the line splits to Paignton and Plymouth?

The 158 set sometimes joins a 159 at either Westbury or Bristol T M... the common at the moment appears to be that it's picked up at WSB» (Westbury - next trains)... it was picked up at WSB last night anyway... I was on it Grin

Yes I would agree with that... But a few times I have known the 158 to join at BRI» (Bristol Temple Meads - next trains). The staff then normally use the front two coaches for the diagram Smiley
