Does anyone have the diagrams for the SWT (South West Trains) 158 that FGW (First Great Western) have got?

It isn't necessarily the same train every day, it runs from and back to Salisbury.

Leaves Salisbury as 2E16 0604 in multiple with a 2.150 for Gloucester, splits at Westbury

then forms 2M10 0702 Westbury to Cheltenham via Swindon.

then via Swindon-Cheltenham-Swindon-Cheltenham to Bristol (times/numbers not available to me)

returns to Salisbury as the rear portion of the 1O86 2225 ex Bristol TM (Train Manager, or possibly Ticket Machine, depending on context), an SWT (South West Trains) service.

Hope this of use - AIUI ('as I understand it') this diagram is supposed to be the same each weekday, but I think it has been observed elsewhere now and again.

Here's an odd one ... from today



I can confirm, weekdays, that it does usually run the morning "TransWilts service (arriving Swindon 07:48), the Golden Valley; I understood that it does a diagram off usual SWT (South West Trains) territory so that users don't think it's the waterloo service because of the paint job. Obviously it was doing summat else today.

just to add it is the front portion of 1o86 westbury to salisbury,it works a service to westbury in the evening then sits on sidings until approx 22.30 when it then comes out on to platform 1 to wait for 1o86 attachment at 23.04

I have heard that it worked the 15:54 service from Swindon to Cheltenham Spa.

I know the feeling (bit in bold).  This evening there was a 2 coach Arriva Trains Wales service which ran down the Severn Beach line.  No-one (passengers) seemed to care at all that this was a completely different TOC (Train Operating Company)'s train.  The guard even announced on board that this was a FGW service.  Shame I didn't have my camera; an ATW (Arriva Trains Wales (former Train Operating Company)) train at Redland would have gone down well for my collection!

Since you mentioned the ATW unit, the other day I saw an ATW driver working the unit out of Temple Meads so could this not cause cause confusion branding wise as I do know people that catch trains according to the colour of them as they assosciate it with different routes (as the TOCs intended).

On a side note I thought FGW no longer hired in crew from ATW

Knocked spots off the local units, the boys at Salisbury depot know their stuff.
I have a photo but can't for the life of me work out how to add it.

the swt sets are decent units compared to all the other rubbish running around,those 2 in SWT livery were they 786 and 789 that originated from central at same time wessex got 792,855,859,860? major difference being SWT did loads of mods before they entered service unlike wessex tyseley to canton then straight in to traffic.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Let's face it.  Most people don't care, and probably don't even notice. If a train turns up at the appointed time and stops at the station then they will get on without a second thought.

Over the past few years we've had Central liveried units, Transpennine Express, Silverlink, NWT pacers, and currently ATW (Arriva Trains Wales (former Train Operating Company)) and SWT (South West Trains), not to mention 2 loco hauled sets. Jo Public doesn't seem to bat an eyelid, let alone get confused.

We did indeed, when FGW (First Great Western) were hiring in the coaching stock of an HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)). So that does indeed count.

(Also of course XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) services in either MML» (Midland Main Line. - about) or XC livery, but those don't count as they weren't FGW services.)
