In First Class, is the hot food from the exprees cafe i.e. Mushroom Stroganoff served on a plate?

You're only likely to get plated food from the Travelling Chef services in First Class. However FGW▸ (First Great Western) catering provision is all over the place at the moment. Part of this is due to stock refurbishment and part is due to staffing issues.

The previous Customer Service Director at FGW managed to get a handle on the catering provision, but a combination of factors has seen the service start to slip again.

No complementary hot food in 1st, if that's what you're wondering about.

Felt sorry for Brian this morning on the 0800 from Temple Meads. He was trying to replace the 1st Class trolley service by walking up and down to the static trolley at the other end of the train. No hot drinks either. All in all a shambles, which apparently got fed back very swiftly by the many management who use the service.

Wonder whether the Head of Customer Excellence was on board, as is sometimes the case.  Angry

This is a shame tbh as the food when available with the travelling chef is of fantastic quality in my opinion and worth the money. It is a shame catering side of things has been having problems as of late as this is something FGW▸ (First Great Western) can be proud of when it runs without problems

The food FGW▸ (First Great Western) has is excellent compared to some other operators like XC▸ (Cross Country Trains (franchise))
with trolleys going all the way from Penzance-Aberdeen. Shocked I would love to hear other people's views on Fgw food, and thank you for a warm welcome to the Coffe Shop! Smiley

I did try the Breakfast platter a couple of days ago. It did come in a cardboard box which I didn't mind but the plastic cutlery was a bit flimsy. The quality of the food was excellent, Sausage, fried egg, 2 rasher of bacon, tomato, tosat and mushrooms, all hot and fresh.

My only gripe is the one you are expecting...price...^7.95.

If you got a cup of tea or coffee in there as well it would be well worth it, but as an extra, that makes it nearly a tenner....

Thats the problem - in FC▸ (First Class, or Fat Controller, or Football Club, depending on context) you stil pay 7.95 but you get it on a plate with metal cutlery
