I got to Yatton this morning in a rush to get the 08.06am to Bristol Temple Meads.

I have never seen so many people waiting on the platforms. We get on the HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) and people are already standing the aisles, again never seen that before on a HST.

When we got to Nailsea the train manager declassified first class so we all piled in there.

But just wondered what caused these problems, the TM (Train Manager, or possibly Ticket Machine, depending on context) mentioned a derailment in Penzance, but i can;t see anything on the news?

Just wondered thats all, and thanks to the TM for letting us go in first class, was very nice, might upgrade next time!!

Perhaps everyone watched Great British Railway Journeys yesterday and couldn't wait to travel to/from Yatton?  Roll Eyes

Both the previous two trains were cancelled. The 0630 from Exeter to Paddington (0800 from Bristol) was presumably reallocated due to the lack of stock in the South West because of the derailment at Penzance depot. The local service was also cancelled though whether for the same reason I'm not sure, as it starts at Weston having worked down from Bristol.

Yes it was a little busy wasn't it, even for those of us up front.

i was also on this train this morning on my way to spm, a 153 being shunted at penzanze was going over some points when the points decided to change causing the front to go one way and the back to go another causing it to split from another 153 it was coupledto causing it to derail.thus blocking in 5 hst sets and a voyager at penzance depot.
