London Stations in the 1960s

I hope they had PTS^▸ and a T2 when they took the shots at Paddington and by the way I'm not one of the spotters at the end of Plat 10 at KX (or at least I don't think so Cheesy

Absolutely fascinating

Shows how much our railways have changed.

Particularly love the clips with trains coming in with all the doors open and passengers walking alongside the moving train. Ah, how H&S^▸ has ruined us! Wink

I loved the clips too.. thank you.... If anyone has anymore I'd love to see them.. And yes I too particularly liked the slam door trains.. especially the one that arrived when the platform was still full (yet no one on the platform was knocked over by the opening doors!)... Getting off a train was so much easier then, if not a lot riskier

Yep and the slam door train arriving on the crowded platform was a Clacton (309). One of the best EMUs^▸ built grossley overpowered especialy as 10 car.

Train would be doing 60 at the end of the paltform after a stop. Timed at averages of around 66 mph over relatively short distances 10-12 miles.

Did all those MNs and WCs^▸ slip leaving Waterloo or was it my imagination.

Plus was that a baby Deltic as well in KX. Had one run behind one to Cambridge.

Also Night Ferry arrivng at Victoria.

Fantastic!! Warships and Westerns at Paddington....wish I was older so I could've experienced them in service. Rare colour footage of the Blue Pullman DEMU^▸ as well.

Oh.....and the building work at King's Cross/St Pancras never ends does it!

Anyone know what that unit was pulling into Liverpool St? Looked like a forerunner to the Wessex Electric 442 with its wraparound cab windows!

In pt2 of the rail blue vid I love the radio ad at 03:35. Some might say, very appropriate for the subject matter!

Thanks d_m. I re-read eightf's post and went a-trawling the internet for info on 1960s a/c EMU^▸ 's. I wonder what delightful fare the 'griddle cars' cooked up?

Funny how common sense and responsibility have disappeared now!

Just shows how station dwell times are higher now with electric doors - most passengers were of before the train stopped!

I believe you may need a subscription to access them (I'm using a VPN from a university that has a subscription).

I particularly think that "The Finishing Line" from 1977 should still be shown in schools. A nice way of persuading kids that they shouldn't trespass on the railway.
