Bride-to-be Theresa Balaskova was amazed when boyfriend Stephen Allen hired a train for her to drive , then got down on bended knee to propose to her (link below.)

Train enthusiast Miss Balaskova , 29 , from the Czech Republic , met her 37-year-old fiance three years ago when she was working as a waitress in a cafe in London.

Mr Allen , a police officer , decided to pop the question to his girlfriend , who now works as a railway conductor , while on a romantic break in Dartmouth , Devon. As a surprise he hired her favourite 1960s diesel engine and a driver for the day - so the couple could learn how to drive the train and so he could propose.

Mr Allen had also arranged for railway staff at Okehampton station to hang a banner on the footbridge.

(Note - while I am very pleased for the happy couple , there is no denying that its been a quiet day news - wise.....)
