What utter tosh! High Wycombe has been really badly affected, with many people having to spend the night in John Lewis's (in the bed department! ) as they couldn't get back. The M40 in Bucks (i.e. where Chiltern run) has also been heavily affected.

That was *Tuesday*, I was referring to *Wednesday*....no new snow, roads cleared, those that stayed at John Lewis got home. Chiltern cancelled more services that day than on the day the snow fell.....

A good chunk of the cancelled services were early morning - which then caused knock on affects for later on... but at least there were some alterations of other services to accomodate, and it was done with a little more warning.  Perhaps a little overcautious.. but at the end of the day, the weather was particularly bad in the area, the temperature dropped, and a lot of the snow froze, making roads lethal in places. At the very least, this way of dealing with the situation was certainly a lot less chaotic then High Wycombe was on Monday!  And besides, i wouldn't agree that all roads were cleared, i live off of a very busy road in Wycombe which wasn't gritted until mid afternoon on Wednesday, which IMO^▸ (in my opinion) is pretty poor considering its is a steep but busy road and had been bad since the previous thursday!!

I can't remember days, all the days merge into one.

However I DO know that Bucks was affected greatly by this snow, and that CH would not cancel trains unless absolutely necessary. At least they had the good idea of publishing the cancellations the day before! A lesser TOC^▸ (Train Operating Company) would have the service as "on time" on the boards/ the web until about a minute before the train was due!

Sorry, I don't agree...

A 'clever' Toc publishes alterations the day before - because those changes then are excluded from their statistics (assuming those running to amended timetable) are on time, and the cancellations are excluded too....

If they are cancelled / late they hit their stats....hence the over cautiousness....
