Hi,

I've been impressed that whilst the roads became a big car park yesterday in and around Reading FGW (First Great Western) trains seem to have had no issues in the snow whatsoever.  Well done!

Whilst I sympathise with all those people who got stuck in their cars, having a no-car commute does have it's benefits sometimes and this weather is one of them!  It's been quite surreal in Reading walking past cars abandoned along streets and this morning an eerie lack of cars during rush-hour!

Does anyone here know the best contact for me to retrieve my black woolly hat that I left in Carriage A on the 08.38 from Reading to Paddington this morning.  Doh!

Thanks,

Boppy.

Everything coming west out of Reading was around 30 mins late last night,  which wasn't bad under the circumstances, but hardly "no issues".

Yep I agree. I had to use both SWT (South West Trains) and FGW (First Great Western) last night and had no wait at all at Reading (probably because the FGW was rather late but still rather advantageous to me).. My only slight complaint was that they seemed to have forgotten to put the heating on on the FGW train (or it was broken).. I was already very cold.. so was completely frozen by the time I got off..

Network Rail have a lost property office at Paddington and everything found on trains at Paddington is taken there. Tel 0207 313 1514.

I was pleasantly surprised to find Heathrow Connect and everything at Paddington running like clockwork yesterday mid-morning, considering I had received a text from a friend as soon as I got off the plane warning me that the country's tranport system was in chaos and I might have trouble getting home.

So yes, good show FGW (First Great Western). The ATW (Arriva Trains Wales (former TOC (Train Operating Company))) connection west of Swansea was also bang on time.

Day after the snow (22nd December) managed to get back to Exeter perfectly on time, despite snow to just north of Tiverton!

Sadly as we know though the railways are still reported as being at a standstill in the media. This unfair generalisation does the railways no favour considering people are now asuming few services are running despite regular users knowing the complete opposite.
