From FGW▸ (First Great Western)'s web pages there is a meet the manager session scheduled on the 1311 from Hereford to Paddington. On the same web pages this train is announced as starting from Worcester, wonder if the managers caught their train or had to wait for the next one.

Some of the managers in question travelled on the down working from Paddington 0822 to Hereford so would have been aboard from Worcester.

Here are the dates and locations for First Great Western's 'Meet the Manager' sessions for the 12 months from April 2011:



Despite the information given on the relevant website page there are not 25 sessions listed for the coming year and there are no on-train sessions. Perhaps the rest of the sessions are yet to be finalised.  Undecided

These are held at various stations throughout our network and on some selected High Speed Train Services.

At the Meet the Manager events, customers are invited to meet our senior managers and directors to discuss your thoughts and suggestions for our services.

All sessions at stations are held during evening peak travelling times.
PM - from 1630 / 1700 to 1900

*Please note, times may vary. Look out for posters at your station to confirm times.

They had a recorded announcement at Reading today advertising the Meet the Managers session tomorrow. Voiced by the same person who normally does the weekend engineering announcements.

Yes, that's Rodger, he is also the new male PA▸ (Public Address (broadcast loudspeaker announcements) or Passenger Assist (railway staff providing physical assistance to passengers with mobility issues), depending on context) voice as well, he does loads of other announcements down here, like announcing stations are part of penalty fare areas, and also smoking. The year before last he also did announcements about the timetables changes, however FGW▸ (First Great Western) have used the built in announcements into the current PA at HSS▸ (High Speed Services) stations once or twice before, which sounded a lot better. Pity they can't use the built in announcement about the meet the manager sessions as well.

They appear to always do an announcement about the meet the manager sessions, I've heard announcements at Plymouth and Exeter St Davids. Its good to hear they announce it, specially for people who don't venture that deeply into FGWs website.

Not 100% sure if i'm honest.

It appears at the moment they are working at making Rodger/Anne the new voices have similar content in the announcements as Celia/Phil at HSS▸ (High Speed Services).
I would imagine this is because they want to keep Celia/Phil at HSS stations because they can do far more complex announcements, such as what I mentioned before.

As FGW▸ (First Great Western) said "Network Rail will be undertaking a project to install a like-for-like CIS▸ (Customer Information System) system over 2011-12" Depends what your definiation of like-for-like is really!  Huh

I note that there are still only 12 MtM station sessions listed on the FGW▸ (First Great Western) website, with the first page saying that there are 17 at stations and a further 8 on board trains.

Was Truro's an official MtM? Because FGW haven't bothered to include it on the list on their website.

Well. 10 weeks have passed since I posted the incomplete list of Meet the Manager sessions, when can we expect to see the remaining sessions arranged and advertised?

Just another Franchise Commitment that FGW▸ (First Great Western) seem to feel they can get away with not complying.  Roll Eyes Angry

If they all fall in the last 6 months of their year, they can be posted in the next few months & still have plenty of notice given!
