New style window destination labels

A new design for this timetable change. Anyone else seen them?

Far too small, and lacking in contrast making them far more difficult to read 'at a glance' like the old tried and tested design. Not impressed!

Yup - already asked FGW^▸ (First Great Western) for the reason behind the change (why change something that isn't broken?) and suggested they revert....

Yes, that was my immediate thought. I'll mention it to someone in management on my daily commute.

I saw them yesterday - not impressed either.

There was an idea of getting a more sturdy/plastic type replacement that are kept on each set, and are therefore reused, produced once and not thrown away as they are now.

Personally I think they are designed to go in the droplight windows.  They fit just right even when the droplight is lowered.  Thats were I put mine on the train from Cheltenham Spa.

some vehicle actuall have a little cut out within the toilet window for window labels A bit bit cumbersome I reckon for a train prepairer to undo the little drop down door from within the toilet!

Excellent idea, you haven't got a hope in hell of seeing the old ones through the black tinted windows, unless up close.

When first delivered - certainly on the East Coast route - HSTs^▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) actually had roller blinds in those displays in the toilet windows, like an old-fashioned bus destination display, but I think changes in stopping patterns for services and the sheer amount of time needed to go down a train setting them up soon put paid to them. I seem to remember my brother buying one of the reels from BR^▸ (British Rail(ways)) collectors' corner years ago, after they had been removed from the trains.

They highlight the short platforms better than the old ones but I don't like them.  Also it says "stations with short platforms are boxed" - these are not boxed they have been "highlightered"

Of course, if the HST^▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) refurb had been done fully, the HSTs would have external destination screens like on the demonstration model!

Well, that's something. Though whoever designed/authorised the change in the first place should not be pleased with themselves!

Especially as they have Customer Panels that ought to have been consulted prior to this change. We'd have picked it straight up....

Cue a rash of people collecting these window labels at the end of a journey...they could turn out to be rare antiques!
