No tickets available - yet train calls at both X and C

Here's a similar one, which I 've been meaning to ask for a while. Also in FGW^▸ (First Great Western) territory.

I'm travelling with my companion when the train I'm on stops at A. I get off, and wave to my companion as it leaves. I then set off in the same broad direction as the train went, and a brisk 20 minute walk later arrive at station B, a mile away. A few minutes later, a trains arrives from broadly the same direction as I've come. Yes it's the same train that I got off, on the same service, and sure enough, my companion is still on it. 

I didn't pass or go near any other stations on the way.

Where are A and B? 

If there is a delay at WOS^» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains) or it arrives on time - A is WOS and B is WOF

Not the one I'm thinking of. Do they really sit at WOS for around 20 mins? Still, all good answers, but none of them as whacky as the service I'm thinking of.

The curious thing is, when it arrives at station B, the train has averaged 45mph since it's last stop, but you've still managed to walk there and beat it.

Damn you bemmy. I'd just worked it out as well. And like Graham's earlier poser, try buying a ticket from Patchway to Bristol Parkway.

Just checked with National Rail Enquiries: no ticket available for the 0737, but on the other through train at 2248 I can get an Offpeak Single for the 3 minute journey for ^40!  You couldn't make it up.

Eh? I think you have made it up. The 2248 from Patchway is a Cardiff to Exeter service, and no matter how you do it, Patchway to Parkway is gonna take longer than 3 minutes...... not sure what you were looking at on NRE^▸ (National Rail Enquiries).

Eh? I think you have made it up. The 2248 from Patchway is a Cardiff to Exeter service, and no matter how you do it, Patchway to Parkway is gonna take longer than 3 minutes...... not sure what you were looking at on NRE^▸ (National Rail Enquiries).

The 2248 runs via Parkway.

Well done Bemmy! My teaser this evening was going to be that I see this train most days on my daily commute (the 8am to Swindon usually pulls out parallel to it).

I stand corrected. I was narrowing my searches to XC^▸ (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) services, I weren't aware that the 2200 FGW^▸ (First Great Western) Cardiff-Exeter travels via Bristol Parkway. Anyone out there know why this service does what appears to be a rather pointless reverse at Bristol Parkway?
