I was thinking that myself..............would have to be the low level look toward wolverhampton but the platforms look wrongly aligned for that

Is #3 Yeovil Junction?
Love the way the camera has superimposed what appears to be a flying pig on the "Track Record" poster on #4, by the way

Its certainly not looking down towards brum as there is a tunnel right at the end of the platform. For that to be looking towards wolverhampton, the southbound platform would have to extend further north than the wolverhampton bound one otherwise it would not be visible when the other isnt. BUT I dont think it does.

Smethwick Galton Bridge is on quite a sharp curve, and there are no bridges immediately north of the station on the Wolverhampton side. Southbound there's no tunnel, but there is the bridge where the high level platforms are, though again the track is on a curve and whilst there are two very similar bridges there is no sign of the junction just south of the station. Therefore I'm pretty sure it's not there, though it may well be on the same stretch of track?

Okay - when I said tunnel I meant the big bridge thing - in laymans terms its much the same thing!

Fair enough. In non-layman's terms I do believe there is an official length where railway bridges/structures become classified as tunnels. Does anyone know what it is? I'm thinking 200 yards?

If 5 is not Galton Bridge what about Rolfe Street? Othewise I'd go for Sandwell and Dudley or Cosley? Unfortunately I know the canals better than the railway in that area, but those 3 are the only ones on the Stour Valley that I can think of as being in cuttings as the canal is at those points.
Just out of interst do you realise that the Stour Valley line is mostly at around 500'? The Birmingahm level being 453' and the Wolverhampton level 473' and the railway is above the canal most of the way. I think the BCN are the most fasinating canals around.
Is 3 Midland it looks very Midland in style but a later extension. So S&C▸ ?
Is 1 Shrewsbury Crewe junction? The North end of the station.
A trivial pursuits fact about Shrewsbury is that it has upper (LM▸ ) and lower (GW▸ ) quadrant and colour light signals. Recently when a signal arm had to be replaced it had to be a lower quadrant because there was one more lower quadrant arm in the area thus the replacement had to be the most prominent type i.e. lower quadrant. Until Shrewsbury is resignalled this means that if any more arms require replacing they will all be lower quadrants.

That wall does look familiar ............ not sure about the bike rack but never walked that far up - but also not 100% sure Shrewsbury has 7 platforms labelled a/b There is one at the far side of the station Then the main one for north bound trains the main one for south bound trains (which is the one I think that picture may be of) And two bay platforms.... that makes five however I could be completely wrong

Looks about right to me! http://www.panoramio.com/photo/22504099Old out of use platforms would probably account for the slightly strange platform number!
