Core Strategies - where does the South West go in the next 20 years?

Here in Wiltshire, we're going through a Core Strategy Consultation - looking at how the area should develop as a whole right through to 2026 ... and the local transport plan is involved too. The consultation and strategic planning is required by the government, so I'm kinda thinking it'll be happening in other areas too.

A roadshow started in Chippenham at the start of this month, coming to public halls (or in Melksham's case, a caravan in the market place) and carries on for another week or so, and responses need to be in by close of business on 31st December. At the road shows, the public are invited to add their ideas on "postit notes" and I'll add a sampling from those added at Chippenham and Melksham - the two shows I have visited.

You'd have thought in this day and age that there would be an electronic way of recording the public's ideas and thoughts.

Of course, I'm forgetting that there would then be a traceable audit trail of comments made, whereas nobody notices when a load of negative Post-It notes are thrown in the bin.

Oh dear Phil, you are obviously well out of touch with "modern day management techniques"!. Wink

The post-it note is a vital part of running any business nowadays - or so the management consultants would have us believe.

There is, all of our thoughts are being monitored remotely from Whitehall...the only way to stop them doing this is to wear a tinfoil hat. Wink

I'm in the process of correlating lots of thoughts and answers on where Wiltshire and (in my case) Melksham in particular should be going at the moment - town meeting tonight, but I've shared some thoughts on my blog with regard to general direction.

What actually amazed me when I put this together was what a "no brainer" the greener options are - even if all the scientists are wrong about global warming, it does no hard at all to preserve resources, whereas it's arrogant to go on needlessly using resources up just because you are one of those people who thinks we have limitless supplies and will always be able to find more.
