Not enough, apparently?  Undecided

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Hmm. Be assured, vacmanfan, that as soon as I receive any details from BTP (British Transport Police), they will be published here. Angry

I dont think they will issue an appeal, as the assailant was arrested at the scene.

Oh.  One assailant assaulted three members of staff on the gateline in the same incident, then?  Shocked

Out of curiosity, on the Westbound platform, between the Gents and the start of the footbridge flight of steps, there is a bricked up opening, which looks as though it might have been a newspaper stall. Can anyone shed any light on that please? Seems an odd place given that a small cluster of buyers would seriously create a bottle-neck at base of stairs. Jim

it was only bricked up about 5 years ago, it was just a side gate.

Back in the late 1950's early 1960's there was a newspaper stand in that area. I remember it well as it was where I bought my NME before going to School having travelled from St. Austell

There was a set of gates there in later years and it was used by the Post Office to offload from the mail train to their vans. It was bricked up after the mail train stopped running.
Edited to add....
Also for the newspapers when that service ran.

FYI (for your information) - when the actual construction work on the toilets starts next week only the disabled toilet on P2 will be available as the toilets recently installed on P3 have a drainage issue and cannot be used yet.
Will make for an interesting 10 or so weeks...
