Does anyone know what was going on with the Waterloo-Exeter line yesterday? I got to Axminster to catch the 1155 to Exeter, only to find that there was a 159 sitting there with the destination boards showing 'cancelled' for that train. I was advised by a member of staff that the next train might be cancelled as well. I didn't hang around to find out more as I was in a hurry and needed to make alternative plans.

When I came back on the 1814 from Central it was a 2 car 158. I saw the train we passed at Honiton was also a 2 car 158 (1744 from Central then 1823 return from Axminster). I've never seen any services less than 3 cars before.

I suspect a train broke down on the single line somewhere but does anyone know this? I know a SWT (South West Trains) forum would be a better place to ask but I figure there might be FGW (First Great Western) staff at Exeter or Salisbury who'd know.

Sorry about that.  Sad

Is there a SWT (South West Trains) forum out there?

Not that i'm aware of. I was told by a member of FGW (First Great Western) staff, I was in Manchester so was surprised to hear it myself!
