How busy would that have been on the Bank Holiday Monday?   Is there another service "soon" thereafter or were all such "soon after" services optimised out last December?

14:09 Great Malvern to Taunton due 17:29

This train will be run empty from Gloucester to Bristol Temple Meads at 16:21. It will no longer call at: Cam & Dursley, Yate, Bristol Parkway and Filton Abbey Wood. This is due to resourcing difficulties.

For the passengers waiting for this service just the message "we regret this service has been cancelled" and they can just sit down and wait for the next hourly service, no mention of road replacement transport being provided.

06:15 Gloucester to Taunton due 08:14
This train has been cancelled. This is due to a train fault

Early commuters into Bristol hit this morning, no mention of road replacement transport being arranged, lets hope that Nigel, the morning ticket seller has the authority to issue the necessary dockets and arrange taxis for the stranded commuters, I doubt it though, this is FGW (First Great Western).

As the service is cancelled throughout, farther south down the line commuters to Taunton from Weston, Highbridge and Bridgewater also inconvenienced since the service interval is hourly.

A few commuters will be telling the boss the train was cancelled this morning to explain their lateness for work today.

AND to put the icing on the cake the next service, the 0702 from Cheltenham was 13 minutes late starting from Cheltenham, few travellers delayed by over an hour this morning so a few compensation claims going to Plymouth in the next 24 hours or so.

Update at 0810.

A train was found, how can you lose a train, and the cancelled Gloucester to Taunton service was restarted at BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI)) 13 minutes late.

He will WANT to, but he WON (Weekly Operating Notice )'T be able to get through to control and IF/WHEN he DOES he will get the 'we'll call you back'

14:02 Cheltenham Spa to Taunton due 16:31

This train will be terminated at Gloucester and restarted from Bristol Temple Meads. It will no longer call at: Cam & Dursley, Yate, Bristol Parkway and Filton Abbey Wood.

I suppose this is another occasion where there is resourcing difficulties although not reported and what do you make of this one from the FGW (First Great Western) website on the same route, is this the train to nowhere.

17:40 Weston-super-Mare to Filton Abbey Wood due 18:25

This train will be started from Bristol Temple Meads. It will no longer call at: Weston-Super-Mare, Weston Milton, Worle, Yatton, Nailsea & Backwell, Parson Street, Bedminster, Stapleton Road and Filton Abbey Wood. This is due to resourcing difficulties.

But as least they admit resourcing difficulties in this cancellation which is the last service on the route of the day.

20:13 Great Malvern to Bristol Temple Meads due 22:04

This train has been cancelled. This is due to resourcing difficulties.

15/10/2007.

Both the 08:42 and 09:42 services down from Yate this morning were cancelled so this meant 3 hours without a service but I dont know if the (new) VT (Virgin Trains - former franchises)/FGW (First Great Western) partnership came to the rescue with special stop orders on southbound voyagers to pick up the stranded folks. A lot of students use the 08:42 going to college, 10 minutes walk from BPW» (Bristol Parkway - next trains).

To complete the story of a bad day for Bristol Commuters, tonights (Taunton) 19:55 from BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI)) to Yate (and onto Worcester) is cancelled between BTM and GCR» (Gloucester - next trains).

Half an hour later I take another look at the FGW (First Great Western) website and lo and behold ;-

08:36 Worcester Shrub Hill to Taunton due 11:08

Replacement road transport is being provided between Worcester Shrub Hill and Gloucester.

So it looks as thogh my shopping trip is back on.

Oh I wish FGW wouldn't do this.

All I need now is to get to the station and find the service has been cancelled due to a fault on the train.
