Not tstrictly true

The 1845 is actually the 1915 from Pad - this is the one I get at the moment

6 minutes to make that connection at Newport. Tight! Here's hoping that ATW (Arriva Trains Wales (former TOC (Train Operating Company))) hold the Hereford train if the 1915 is a few minutes late....

this is true as the 1915 is not a valid connection time in the fgw timetable booklet for the north costwolds.

Minimum connection time at Newport (in common with most small/medium sized stations) is 5 minutes.

Which is why, we in FGW (First Great Western) control hate the 6 minute connections at Newport with Hereford line services. At least one Pad-Swa has a 4 minute 'booked connection'! We have very good relations with ATW (Arriva Trains Wales (former TOC (Train Operating Company))) who will hold if they can, but lots of examples of customers having to wait 45-50 minutes for the next train to the north (or taxis being provided if connection for the last train is missed)

Most have a long dwell time at hereford so if running to time can afford to be held

Interestingly - I once missed a 1030 connection at hereford to ludlow and the last train was 1130 - it was a friday night and pissing down

The FGW TM(resolve) to whom Im extremely grateful to this day - arranged a taxi  - one hour on a friday night - in the rain  for a solo female passenger?
