Interesting how the design varies so much:

FGW (First Great Western) Standard class: The plug I happened to be using was facing the floor, can't say it was that easy to access!
FGW First Class: The plug just fits but is clearly too close to the table!
SWT (South West Trains) 158 First Class: How impossibly difficult is it to try and get your laptop adaptor in with the funny angle it is at!
XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)): Bliss. That was nice and easy, no faffing about under seats, lifting up every arm rest to try and fit under the table, no risk of damage to my plug.

Did nobody bother to check the plugs on FGW table seats?

Although the housing of that plug is quite a neat and unobtrusive solution, it does suffer from being kicked accidentally by punters and so some of them now face the floor as a result. Also, you might not even spot they were there!

The plugs on Chiltern 168s had to be rotated 90 degrees, as they were too close to the table for most plugs. Roll Eyes

As has been said, the initial Refresh sets had a long housing to house the domestic power sockets, however they were easily bent by people using them as foot rests/kicking/vandalising them.

Subesquently the housing were shortand however they are still vandalised by mindless/idiotic people, and you can hardly blame FGW for that. They are checked as part of the exam scheduale, and the fault may well have been booked on a minor exam and be awaiting rectification on a more major exam.

Yeah, my laptop adaptor doesn't fit on the plug in First class on the HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)), the gap between the plug and the table is too small..

It was rather annoying as I had a long journey and actually could of picked up another power adaptor I have.
