I think I know the answer to (6) now, but only because I did some online research. I know that's frowned on in certain quarters, so I'll leave it open for now.
If I'm right, the station I'm thinking of was renamed in May 1905.

as far as google research goes the amount of stations that contain bridge or are near a bridge... its one of those that you would have to have read previoulsly of known, i recently was reading up on the newquay branch.. mainly due to the short formed hst thread, phil just jogged my memory

Ah, but I don't use Google  I am very aware though that some people think of it as "cheating" to look things up with an internet search engine - despite the fact that you have to be a pretty canny researcher (or a trained one, as I have been) to quickly narrow down the results. I once managed to track down a self-titled jazz-rock album by a band called "If" so believe me, pinpointing a railway station didn't take a great deal of effort in comparison  |

I too had to research online for the answer to No6. Wikipedia handily lists station opening and closing years! Would've needed to research No2 as well were it not for the book I'm reading at the moment! (Along Lost Lines - Paul Atterbury)
