1. I was opened in 1898 and closed in 1935, and the furthest you could catch a train from my platforms was just 19 miles away, from there connections to Waterloo were advertised. All the locomotives that operated my passenger trains had 3 letter names.

2. I opened in 1887 and closed in 1962. I was the first place in the country with a railway operated bus service.

3. Boat Trains used to pass through me in the past ... but then the line got reduced to freight only.   These days, I'm an intermediate station that's served by FGW (First Great Western) passenger trains only on Summer Sundays.

4. On weekdays, I have a limited northbound service of just two trains - one operated from South West Train's Salisbury depot, and the other from First Great Western's Bristol depot.

5. There is just one platform here, with no regular service - my last regular calling service was in 1961. There have been three fatal railway accidents here.

6. I was known as "Bridges" when I was first opened in 1876.  These days, the train stops up to 14 times a day, but less that a thousand passengers a year bought tickets for journeys to of from my platform.

7. Arriva Trains Wales terminate two trains at my platform each day, but I am now owned by Network Rail.  The town I'm named after has a population of just over 3000, and is a mile away ... I'm actually located in another, smaller community!

I think I know a couple but will only answer one, to give more people a guess.

I would say 7 is Fishguard Harbour, although I believe the station is owned by the Port and not Network Rail, so I may be wrong.

You are correct on both counts.   I typo'ed ... meant to say "not" and ended up saying "now" and changed the meaning.   Well done in spite of my unintentional trap.   I think it's Stena line who own the station ... and it's the only main network station where you can legally smoke on the platform.

4, Yes ... was me getting my ration of "TransWilts" plugs in.   It is indeed Melksham - the 07:17 is operated by an SWT (South West Trains) unit, and the 19:47 by an FGW (First Great Western) one.

A further clue ... the five that are still to go are NOT on the TransWilts  Wink

Many of these are quite easy ... so the "one each" precedent that John R set, and Devon Metro (who I'm sure knows most of the answers!) followed, is much appreciated!

Correct - on the narrow gauge line across Exmoor that became part of the Southern Railway in 1923.
