From the Exeter Express and Echo:

Quote
Dear Boris,

As you've had a couple of months to settle in as Mayor of London, I'm dropping you a line with some feedback about how the capital is doing on tourism under your leadership, after a short break with my two teenage daughters.

Travel: As we live in Exmouth, it was easy to hop on a First Great Western service at Exmouth then pick up the London-bound express at Exeter St David's.

The FGW (First Great Western) trains were on time, clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and we were whisked speedily to London Paddington on time in just under two and a half hours.

And getting around London on the bus and Tube was easy with three off-peak day travel passes totalling ^12.80.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

I've never read the Exeter Express & Echo - is it a Tory rag?

Considering that until recently, Exeter was a labour seat I doubt that.

To whom it may concern,

yesterday I took the train from Westbury to Exeter St Davids, then on to Paignton to spend the day at their excellent zoo. All four trains were clean and ran to time. I must congratulate FGW (First Great Western) for running such an excellent railway.
I would like to state now that I am not, nor ever have been an employee of First Group or any of its associated companies. Likewise I certify that I am not an employee of the aforementioned registered charity, Paignton Zoo.
During the day I also ate a most agreeable Morrison's pork pie, I would like to state ..................................... Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Did you go on the train at the zoo Wink

Bet the zoo was dead quiet yesterday, even with about 7 coach loads of children booked in.

Must all news in the paper be negative  Huh

Must all news in the "paper" be sensible ??  Huh

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1194937/Terrified-tourists-boycott-Thomas-Cook-flight-home-told-sit-help-balance-jet.html

This is a perfectly normal procedure carried out on every aircraft - but what do we get from the good old Daily Mail ?
Passengers were in a state of:-  "panic" and "terror", and who were "sobbing and crying"  - isn't there a lost kitten story they could cover ?

To be fair on the Mail (which I never usually defend), that excellent "news"paper -The Metro - also covered the Jet story with as little exaggeration.
