I've been following the SWT (South West Trains) DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) changes for a few years now, and have never heard of that at all!
3 More daily 159 diagrams in December might make sense though, along with however many extra 158s.

I think there may be a transfer of 158s from Scotrail to Northern on the agenda though...

what i dont understand is that there are 8 centre carrages (58701^717) from former 3 car 158/0s which for what ever reason were removed , where have they gone?

out of the 17 3 car 158's that were built 1 is with fgw (apparently?) 8 were converted to 159 now with swt and 8 are now 2 car units

as for the 3 extra 159/1's ive read it somewhere hold tight i will find it again

did the 3 cars go to EMT» (East Midlands Trains - about) then end up being taken out and sent to northern for strengthening of there 2 cars?

The 158 centre car locations are all mixed up:

SWT (South West Trains) have:
159101 (158800)   58717
159102 (158803)   58703
159103 (158804)   58704
159104 (158805)   58705
159105 (158807)   58707
159106 (158809)   58709
159107 (158811)   58711
159108 (158801)   58701
FGW (First Great Western) has:
158798 58715
Northern have:
158752  58716
158753  58710
158754  58708
158755  58702
158756  58712
158757  58706
158758  58714
158759  58713

Which means the only TOC (Train Operating Company) that can provide three more 159/1s would be Northern. Would this be at all likely?

i cant find where i read this, i think it was some obscure yeovil commity memo that was calling for a few trains a day from exeter to run threw yeovil junction to pen mill and on to paddington.... i will find it its quite an amusing read im guessing its wrong about 3 more 159's

thankyou for confirming that fgw had a 3 car 158 that is not a hybrid

I think one or two SWT 158s are still with EMT» (East Midlands Trains - about) whilst their 158s are going through refurb so yes at the moment SWT appear to be the only TOC (Train Operating Company) who do have DMUs (Diesel Multiple Unit) going spare but that will probably change in December when hourly Waterloo-Exeter services commence.
