One way wos-rdg 100.60 first class

One way evesham- brentford via rdg and Virginia water - first class - 50.60

That's what a guy on the train was just sold to go to brentford and what I was quoted when I asked. What's the catch?

I get  Worcester  Reading ^43.50

This was for tommorrow 2/6 after 06:00 First anytime. Seems to be valid on all trains. The Off Peak is ^57.40 which I don't understand unless it's return!

Whoever the TM (Train Manager, or possibly Ticket Machine, depending on context) was on the train that left worcester at 630ish - I would give the train time however even the crew didnt know what train it was meant to be!

D_M is right, ^43.50 via Evesham. or ^52.50 via Evesham or Stroud

Without trying to sound harsh, perhaps it was a penalty fare or something...??

No - I have my season - I was merely amazed when he sold the fifty quid fare as I thought a single just to reading was more.  So I asked him and specifically said "out of curiosity, how much would a fare to Reading be these days"
