Was it me or was today a really bad day for the Customer Information Systems?
The boards didnt clear trains that had left, annoucements not going off, I know it was like this at Newton Abbot, Exeter St Davids and Tiverton Parkway. Anyone witness this anywhere else?

Does anyone know what was going on?

For some reason, BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI)) always switch there's off in the late evenings.  I've known this to happen a few times.

Ahh rite, I overheard dispatch staff talking apparently it was something to do with Swindon C.I.S control center.

Totnes had their departure boards saying "First Great Western Customer Information System" all day.

Every so often at Worcester, Digital Doris starts to talk cr*p. (platform alterations which are impossible due to track layout etc.)

So they have to stop her halfway through an announcement!

No idea what happened, but it has been known for the TRUST (Train Running System TOPS) info to not get through to the CIS (Customer Information System) system and hence CIS doesn't know where trains are and everything has to be done manually.

It happens at Bristol Temple Meads, too: see http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=3507.msg27342#msg27342  Roll Eyes

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
